Asterix – The Domain of the Gods to see on television and streaming: reviews and information

Summary :

We are in 50 BC; all Gaul is occupied by the Romans… All? Nope ! Because a village populated by indomitable Gauls still and always resists the invader.

Exasperated by the situation, Julius Caesar decides to change tactics: since his armies are unable to impose themselves by force, it is Roman civilization itself that will seduce these barbarian Gauls. He therefore had a luxurious residential estate built next to the village for Roman owners. : “The Domain of the Gods”.

Will our Gallic friends resist the lure of profit and Roman comfort? Will their village become a simple tourist attraction? Asterix and Obelix will do everything to thwart Caesar’s plans.

Excerpt from the review of Culture Bubbles on animated feature film Asterix – The Domain of the Gods when released in cinemas:

The element that strikes the most when you are in front of this film is the quality of the 3D animation. Rarely have we seen a French cartoon compete so much with animated productions across the Atlantic: the characters are modeled to perfection and the explosion of colors offered on the screen is a constant delight. It is the boxes themselves that come to life before our eyes.

It is moreover rather paradoxical to find more of the trait ofalbert Uderzo in this 3D adaptation than in previous 2D animated films.

Shooting secrets, anecdotes: did you know?

  • The creator of the series Kaamelott, Alexandre Astierand his friend from Pixar, Louis Clichysigned this adaptation to the cinema of 17th album cartoonAsterix by Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny.
  • In the press kitAlexandre Astier returned to his attachment to the adventures of our Gallic heroes: “It’s a comic strip that marked my childhood: the albums were at my grandmother’s, and I read them and re-read them when I was on vacation at her house.
(…) And at the time, Le Domaine des Dieux particularly struck me because the Gauls were taking a real risk and we felt that César was playing on their fragility: the lack of cohesion and even greed.
I remember that I had been distressed by seeing these reputedly invincible and close-knit men being threatened by the greed and the ‘bourgeois’ lifestyle of the Roman matrons. »
  • The French voices are those of Roger Carel (Asterix), Guillaume Briat (Obelix), Lorant Deutsch (English), Laurent Lafitte (Duplicate), Alexandre Astier (Centurion Oursenplus), Alain Chabat (Senator Prospectus)…
  • The original music was composed by Philip Rombi.
  • After two 3D animated films made by the duo Alexandre Astier and Louis Clichy (Asterix – The Domain of the Gods then Asterix – The Secret of the Magic Potion), Guillaume Canet has made a new live-action feature film featuring the two characters imagined by Albert Uderzo and Rene Goscinny.
