This year’s finalists come from eight countries on the old continent: Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia and Spain. Created in 2021 by Middle Tribes, GLITCH is an emerging company specialized in the development of SVOD services with animation for adults. Available in more than 170 countries around the world, its offer combines multi-format animation (films, series, audiobooks and podcasts) and is curated “from and for fans”. Jointly operated by ARD Y ZDF, Kika is the leading provider of children’s content in Germany. Dedicated exclusively to children, from preschool to 6/9-year-olds and tweens, it offers commercial and violence-free content through its linear and non-linear offerings.
The other two nominees are: RTVS was founded in 2011, and today it operates five channels and presents animated series such as Nelly & Caesar, Dounia, Mum is Pouring Rain either Zibilla. And TF1 Unité Jeunesse, owned by TF1Grouphas an average audience of 33.7% among children aged 4/10, the children’s space TFOU broadcasts 750 hours of programming per year.
On the other hand, the candidates selected for the “Investor/Distributor” award are DR Sales of Denmark, the international sales department of Danish Broadcasting Corporation and one of the main Nordic distributors with series such as Team Nuggetsshortlisted in the previous edition of Cartoon Forum, Fabulous Stories by Kids Y John Dillermand;goldbee (Spain) of Christophe Goldbergerwhich offers more than 2,500 half-hour programs of ZDF, BBC, CorusEntertainment, France Televisions Y WDR; KidsMe (Italy), a subsidiary of De Agostini Group focused on the development, production, content curation and distribution of local and European content dedicated to children and family audiences such as brave bunnies, Sullivan’s Sails Y Spooky Wolf. Y Nathan Univers Jeunesse (France), a 130-year-old family business that has become one of the reference houses in the Editis Group.
Finally, the “Producer” category has two French nominations: Normal Y Watch Next Media. Based in Paris and Angoulême, the publishing line of the first company combines original works and adaptations of pop culture classics such as Hello World!,She or Oscar & Hoo; and the second was founded in 2015 in Paris as a production company specializing in animated television series that seeks to ‘control every step from conception to exploitation’.
Finally, Letko (Poland) which is a 2D animation studio focused on the development and production of animated projects. Specializing in hand-drawn, cut-out and 2D projects combined with 3D elements, this company seeks to ‘tell positive stories with soul to all kinds of audiences around the world’. Y peekaboo animation (Spain) by Iván Agenjo, who is a Barcelona-based production company with extensive experience in animation such as I, Elvis Riboldi, My Little Heroes Y mironinswhile your next project Best Friends Forever… Stranded! will be presented in Toulouse.
