‘He-Man’ Movie Is Promised to Be True to Animation by Director

‘He-Man’ fans could have a big reason to celebrate if the ‘Masters of the Universe’ directors make good on their promise.

‘He-Man’ Movie Is Promised to Be Faithful to Animation by Director

The directors of the new movie of the franchise that will be distributed by NetflixAaron and Adam Nee, gave an interview to the SlashFilmwhere they said the feature will be faithful to classic animation:

“And that’s what we’re trying to absolve, what was it that rose within us as children? And so, we want, at its core, that very basic human connection that we were feeling without saying, ‘Well, we’re adults now. So, we can’t really have a character called He-Man, can we?’ Instead, we say, ‘No, we’re going to do this.’”

“It’s a wild and crazy property, and we wanted to keep it wild and crazy. Like, you just had crazy characters, but what we also wanted to keep is that, what it was like to experience these toys and cartoons as a kid. Whereas as kids, we took it completely seriously, and trying to explore, what was it making us feel at the time? amazing worlds you can find. And so we want that wildness, but also the kind of reverence and love for it that we saw through the filter of our childhood eyes.”

The essence of the franchise boils down to unadulterated fun, allowing viewers to lose themselves in new worlds and possibilities, and that’s exactly what the directors seem to want to aim for. Of course, selling toys and merchandise was an integral part of the marketing plan for the franchise as a whole, but He-Man, as a character who inhabited a world without boundaries, emerged as a symbol of childhood imagination and wonder. Aaron Nee elaborated on this sentiment further:

“This things [propriedades de Mestres do Universo] they weren’t just huge hits because of clever marketing or anything like that. It was tapping into something primordial, something fundamental about us as children. Whether the creators did it accidentally or out of brilliance doesn’t matter. It was touching something. And this is what we’re trying to hold on to, what was awakening within us as children? And so, we want that, at its core, that very basic human connection that we were feeling without saying, ‘Well, we’re adults now. So we can’t really have a character called He-Man, we can’t really have Fisto.’ Instead, it’s like, ‘No, we’re going to have that.’ Of just wildness and madness, but doing it with love and care?’”

Basic human connection is definitely something that most filmsespecially those involved with childhood nostalgia, should embrace it, and Adam Nee echoed that sentiment, adding that the film will be approached “with heart” but will retain “the irreverence, silliness and wild nature of the property.”

Adam Nee compared the upcoming film’s tone to ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, which balanced a lot of wacky humor while paying homage to the legacy of the central characters. This seems like the perfect balance when approaching an adaptation. live action of a beloved franchise, and only time will tell how the Nee will fare against the might of Grayskull.

The release date for ‘Masters of the Universe’ has yet to be revealed.
