A national competition of short films dedicated to Italian authors and authors to promote animated films made with any technique and with a free theme. It is organized by the Sicilian cultural association Arknoah as part of the National Cinema Plan for Schools promoted by MiC and MIUR. The short films can be sent starting today and by October 20, 2022, either by post (on DVD support) or by email and the Filmfreeway platform. Each author and author can submit a maximum of three works that must not have been made before 2020. The short film competition is the main event at the center of “Il Cineclub dei Piccoli”, the film festival now in its third edition and that this year will take place in Palermo between 22 and 26 November, in collaboration with the Didactic Direction Aristide Gabelli and with the Italian Federation of Cinema Circles. It is precisely in those days that the winning short will be announced and the Audience Award and FICC Award – Best Director will also be awarded. After two editions held in the Albergheria-Ballarò district in close collaboration with the Santa Chiara association, “Il Cineclub dei Piccoli” maintains its social and socio-educational vocation by landing in Zisa, another area of the city where early school leaving and educational poverty represent a problem for many families. The festival activities – the program of which will be announced later along with many new features – will involve about three hundred girls and boys of the Gabelli school in workshops dedicated to the exploration of the professions of cinema and the creation of a real short film. Not only the little ones, however: the event will also feature screenings open to the public in some rooms of the city. “After the fantastic experience in Ballarò, the Cineclub dei Piccoli moves to Zisa but always to spread and promote the film culture and the principles of integration and hospitality that are the basis of this project” explains Francesco Torre, founder and artistic director of the festival. “The new edition will have a simple soul but, as always, it will be able to give back the best of the national panorama of animated shorts, with an eye also to European production”.
