On September 21, 2022, TMS announced that they are producing a new crossover anime titled Lupine III VS Cat’s Eye, which is set to premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in 2023! As of now, it’s unclear if this project will be a movie or an entire anime series.
The Lupine III VS Cat’s Eye Project Celebrates 50 Years of Lupine IIIe Anime and Cat’s Eye 40 Anniversarye Manga Birthday. Tsukasa Hojo wrote and illustrated the action, crime and mystery manga Cat’s Eye while the action, comedy and mystery manga Lupine III (Lupin the Third) was written and illustrated by Monkey Punch.
Voice actor Kanichi Kurita will reprise his role as Lupine III while voice actor Keiko Seshita will also reprise her role as Hitomi Kisugi (the main protagonist of Cat’s Eye).
Lupine III VS Cat’s Eye will be the first Japanese animated film to be considered an “Amazon Original”.

What is the plot of Lupine III VS Cat’s Eye?
The story is set in Cat’s Eye’s original 1980s period to give the anime a stylish retro feel. The Cat’s Eye sisters, who run a cafe by day and are notorious art thieves by night, set out to steal three paintings that once belonged to their father. Unfortunately, the master thief, Lupin, is after the same loot. The paintings eventually reveal a long-buried mystery.
Can Lupine focus on the job at hand with three entertainingly beautiful thieves chasing the same treasure, or can Inspector Zenigata use this opportunity to finally capture the elusive Lupin?

In October 2021, Lupine III Part 6 will air on NTV in Japan and is the latest installment in the Lupine III anime franchise. The English version has been licensed by Sentai Filmworks for home video and streaming in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavian countries and all Nordic countries.
The Cat’s Eye manga took place from 1981 to 1985 and inspired two Tokyo Movie Shinsha TV anime series. From 1983 to 1984, the first season of 36 episodes aired. From 1984 to 1985, the second series of 37 episodes aired.
