One Piece Movie: Red reached heights and took on tougher bounties than any animated film in the franchise has ever dreamed of, with the official Twitter account confirming this morning that the film produced by Toei Animation passed 10 billion yen at the Japanese box office, doing it in just 20 days. This makes A play the 41st film in Japan to break that bar and currently the 11th highest-grossing film in the country.
From August 25, the 20th day of the film in theaters, One Piece Movie: Red provided 10 billion yen ($72.86 million) from 7.2 million tickets sold. The One Piece film was already Toei Animation’s highest-grossing anime film, but it has now topped all Detective Conan animated films and is on track to succeed in both Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Once Upon a Time and even JUJUTSU KAISEN 0.
One Piece Movie: Red is also the second fastest film in Japan to reach the 10 billion yen milestone, surpassing the 5-day mark ahead of Hayao Miyazaki. Taken away as if by magic. A celebratory stage event for the 10 billion yen milestone will be held on September 1 at the Marunouchi TOEI Theater. Luffy’s voice actor Mayumi Tanaka, Uta’s voice actor Kaori Nazuka, and director Goro Taniguchi will be in attendance.
