Spy x Family: twenty animation studios fought to adapt the anime

While many fans have applauded the work of CloverWorks Y witstudio in his faithful adaptation of ”Spy x Family”, when thinking about producing the anime18 other studios were fighting to adapt and animate the story created by Tatsuya-Endo.

The president of Wit Studio and chief executive producer of ”Spy x Family”, George Wadarevealed at Anime NYC that his studio was among twenty other studios vying for the chance to turn the sleeve of ”Spy x Family” in an anime. In the end Wit Studio and CloverWorks ended up winning the rights to work together on the animation.

Wada said the two studios collaborated to ensure production ran smoothly with as few delays as possible. He also commented that he hopes fans appreciate the hard work of both studios on the Spy x Family adaptation so they can collaborate more in the future.

In the same way, he took the opportunity to comment on the reason why he believes that Anya is so loved by fans, citing Baby Yoda as a possible reason, since the two are quite similar to each other.

The executive said Wit Studio did most of the action sequences as the studio had experience with animated action scenes from working on the first three seasons of ”Attack on Titan” and ”Seraph of the End.”

On the other hand, the CloverWorks studio began as the renowned Koenji Studio of the production company A-1 Pictures. After a few months, CloverWorks parted ways with A-1 to start their own productions. In addition to ”Spy x Family,” the studio has adapted ”The Promised Neverland” and ”My Dress-Up Darling.” He has also had his original productions like ”Darling in the Franxx” and ”Wonder Egg Priority”.

Created by Tatsuya Endo, ”Spy x Family” captured the hearts of fans around the world with its story about a fake family consisting of a spy, an assassin, and a telepathic girl.
