With Halloween just around the corner, Netflix is gearing up for the release of Tim Burton’s film Wednesdaywhich will be an eight-episode series about the Addams Family character. However, the show frustratingly won’t be released until November, which doesn’t make the slightest bit of sense as the show is intricately tied to the spooky holiday.
However, it will be worth the wait and will undoubtedly be better than the criticized animation. The Addams Family films. But some animated releases are the best movies to watch during Halloween. And between several other Burton productions, a touching Pixar release, and even an Adam Sandler comedy, there are plenty of creative animated Halloween movies. And needless to say, 2019’s The Addams Family is nowhere to be found.
10/10 House of Monsters (2006) – 6.6

Somehow almost every street in America has that house that is neglected, looks terrifying, and is the place that parents tell their children to stay away from, and the 2006 movie is all about that very house. Monster House follows a group of curious children who take an interest in the house and decide to check it out.
However, they immediately regret this decision when the house becomes conscious, and while the movie doesn’t score great on IMDb, it’s still more fun than most other kids’ movies. In particular, Monster House has a much deeper and more emotional narrative that reveals the origin of the house, making it a much more unique and poignant haunted house movie than others, while still having its spooky factor. It’s the animated answer to Haunted Mansionand there’s no denying it’s better than the Haunted Mansion redo too.
9/10 The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949) – 6.9

Disney’s older animated films are great to rewatch for their unique hand-drawn animation and wild concepts. And even though it’s not mentioned as much as the likes of Alice in Wonderland🇧🇷 The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. frog is one of those movies.
The film follows the titular characters, who are drawn from two different stories, The Wind in the Willows and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and they are interpolated in a completely original way. What if the kids were interested in the DVD cover of sleepy hollow but are too young to watch Tim Burton’s dark film, the 1949 classic should be next on the watch list.
8/10 Frankenweenie (2012) – 6.9

There’s no denying that director Tim Burton has an obsession with Halloween, and that fact has spawned tons of hilarious Burton-themed memes. 2012 Frankenweenie is the third scary stop-motion film from the mind of the beetle juice director, and while it’s not as beloved as its predecessors, it’s still a satisfying Halloween movie and presents a surprisingly touching tale about a boy and his dog.
The film lacks the incredible musical numbers found in Burton’s other stop-motion releases. But what it lacks in the music department it more than makes up for in comic horror, and Frankenweenie is essentially one of the more original film adaptations of the Mary Shelley film. frankenstein🇧🇷
7/10 For Norman (2012) – 7.0

like Frankenweenie🇧🇷 to Norman is another stop-motion animation film, but it was done in an original way, giving the character designs a unique look. According to Wired🇧🇷 to Norman it is one of the first stop-motion films to have the characters’ faces made with a color 3D printer, and tens of thousands of models have been printed with the printer.
That technology led to such a cool movie, and the movie had an equally fascinating premise. The film follows Norman, who discovers that he can talk to the dead, and discovers that he prefers their company to the living. to Norman is one of the most creative films about a medium outside the beetle juice🇧🇷
06/10 Hotel Transylvania (2012) – 7.0

Even if a 7.0 isn’t exactly the best rating in the world, it’s respectable enough and, more than anything, a rarity for an Adam Sandler comedy. A Sandler movie rated 7.0 means it’s one of his best-loved releases, and it’s no different with Hotel Transylvaniaa fun family movie that even took critics by surprise.
Critics love to hate on Sandler, but they can’t deny how fun the scary movie is and how it turned Dracula and Frankenstein into lovable goofs. Sadly, while the franchise was hugely successful at the box office, it’s a perfect example of diminishing returns, as the sequel has a 6.6, Summer holidays has 6.3, and the newly released Transformania it has a disappointing 6.0.
5/10 Corpse Bride (2005) – 7.3

There’s something about Halloween-adjacent movies and stop-motion, as many scary movies use clay animation. It might be because of the strange appearance of clay animation as it is still physical compared to computer animation and so detailed but also so lively, giving the movies a creepy look.
Corpse Bride is a great example of this, as Tim Burton’s second animated production has the most interesting character designs yet. Again, it features Burton’s typical dark fantasy elements, and it also has some amazing musical numbers, but it still doesn’t reach the classic status that its predecessor achieves.
4/10 Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Werewolf (2005) – 7.5

While Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Werewolf may have been America’s introduction to the clay-raised Englishman and his dog, there were several shorts that were incredibly popular in the UK. They were inventive and pushed the possibilities of the stop-motion format to the limit. And for a score as strong as 7.5, it’s relatively low compared to the shorts’ rating.
Nonetheless, The Curse of the Werewolf was an interesting take on the long-awaited feature film, the Halloween-themed film was more than welcome, and turned out to be one of the best British films of all time. Interestingly, while animated Halloween movies are pretty specific, 2005 saw the release of both. Werewolf and Corpse Bridemaking it a big year for fans of stop-motion scary movies.
3/10 Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998) – 7.7

When it’s about Scooby Dooboth the animated series and the live-action films of the 2000s are thought first, but Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island is overlooked and often slips through the cracks. Fans even think of the Batman crossover movies before the 1998 movie. zombie island it’s so much more than just a direct-to-video release.
The animation is well done, and the story reads like a classic Scooby gang adventure, but it also has a surprising amount of production value in other areas. Rock bands like Third Eye Blind contribute to the soundtrack, and Mark Hamill even voices a character in the film. There is a continuation, Return to Zombie Island, who arrived 21 years later, but is not as respected.
2/10 Coraline (2009) – 7.7

Coraline it’s a very kid-friendly movie, but it’s also extremely scary, disturbing, and will even frighten some adult viewers. The film follows the title character, who finds a door that leads to a reality. Everything is similar to the real world, but better in many ways. However, Coraline’s bizarre family won’t let her back into the real world, and it’s surprisingly harrowing and features one of the scariest scenes in a children’s movie.
The film is stunning and visually spectacular, tells an original story and moves audiences, making it as close to perfection as a non-Pixar film has come. And if it weren’t for Abovewould have won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
1/10 The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) – 7.9

The Nightmare Before Christmas it was the first of Burton’s stop-motion Halloween films, and it continues to be beaten. While the film trilogy could be seen as godbrothers as they share the same themes and aesthetic, the 1993 film was the only one to become a cult classic. And it’s one of the few movies that can be watched on Halloween or Christmas without it being weird.
It’s a mesh that Burton makes work so well, and it’s one of the darkest musicals in cinema, but ironically, it wasn’t actually directed by Burton, and it’s a mistake most people make. While Burton invented the story, the film was directed by Henry Selick, a stop-motion master who also directed James and the Giant Peach and Coraline🇧🇷
