On November 25, the Digital Diamond forum started in Yakutsk, an expert platform for promoting advanced Russian products and solutions in the field of IT.
Within the framework of the forum, the session “Development of Animation in the Regions. Best Practices”, in which Albina Mukhametzyanova, General Director of the YARKO animation company, took part. Also among the speakers were Boris Mashkovtsev, director of the Soyuzmultfilm studio, Oleg Markov, general director of the Sakha National Broadcasting Company, Kirill Maksimov, head of the Animation Faculty project at Synergy University, Anna Borisova, marketing director of Tundra animation and Alexandra Dubovskaya, director of the Animur International Animation Film Festival, Khabarovsk, head of the Animation Cluster of the Khabarovsk Territory project.
The speakers discussed the peculiarities of working in modern realities, gave practical advice on how to get started for beginner studios and paid special attention to animation production in the regions.
“In May last year, the YARKO company became part of the Gazprom-Media holding with one brand in the portfolio – the animated series Dragon Tosha. There were 11 of us at the start. But we had big plans, so the first thing I did was to expand the team. Today, there are more than 100 specialists in the bright team. Already in the first year, we launched the development and production of 10 animation projects in various genres and formats for an audience from 0 to 12 years old. In the near future, we plan to launch three new brands – Drakoshia, Ulyotnaya Delivery! and Ticabo. We believe that the audience will love our series as much as we do,” said Albina Mukhametzyanova, General Director of the YARKO animation company.
Immediately after the session, the final stage of the track “Preservation of cultural heritage through new technologies” of the Arctic startup expedition took place. As part of the demo day of the animation course, creative projects were defended before the jury. 11 author’s ideas were presented, on which the participants worked for two months. During this time, under the guidance of experienced mentors, the author’s projects have come a long way from an idea to a concept that is ready to compete for the prize fund.
“Participants presented very diverse projects, each had a special approach to the presentation. The theme was dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage, and the speakers showed how long-lasting this story can be. The concepts of novice authors emphasized the relevance of the development of regional animation, its color, versatility, and that it could be not one, not two, or three projects, but a whole wave that will be dedicated specifically to the theme of the northern people. I note that the jury had no doubts in choosing the winners. I presented a prize from the organizers for the third place to Renara Fedoseyeva, who came up with a digital-fashion cartoon about the virtual blogger “A-Siya”, – said Albina Mukhametzyanova, jury member of the demo day.
Both sessions were moderated by Ekaterina Arkhipova, head of public relations at the YARKO animation company.
