“Red”, the Disney production, was also an expected nomination. The story tells of the conflict of a girl, Mei Lee, who turns into an orange bear at the most difficult moment of her life: puberty. The Spanish voice of Ming Lee, the protagonist’s mother, is performed by the well-known Mexican soap opera actress Itatí Cantoral.

“The Sea Beast” and “Marcel The Shell With Shoes On” are the other ‘animated’ competitors at the 2023 Oscars. The first film is an ambitious bet by Netflix, an epic about the adventure of a little girl who hunts sea monsters. The second is a hilarious and moving mockumentary where a seashell teaches a lesson through its way of connecting with the simplest things.
